The Fit’n’Free Outdoor Community Gym started with a conversation between a couple of community members, new to Havelock, over a coffee back in November. Tracy Webby expressed a desire for a gym in Havelock. Carol Boswell agreed and together, with Mary Michat they visited the Seddon indoor Gym, and found to develop a similar one may have been a little over ambitious. Mary suggested visiting an outdoor Gym in Nelson funded by the Lions Club and the Nelson City Council. That is a great set up for any community as it is free to use and there for every one. After a lot of information gathering a committee was formed and an inaugural meeting was held in May 2015 to plan a similar gym in Havelock.
Fundraising is now well underway and the committee is looking forward to seeing the gym set into the ground in the not too distant future.
